Candy Sushi
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp butter
- 12 regular marshmallows
- 2 cups puffed rice cereal (Kellog’s Rice Krispies or similar)
- Fruit Roll Ups
- Swedish Fish
- Colored Twizzlers
- Various other candy that you want to use as the roll filler or on top of the Nigri style sushi
Preparation:
1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over low heat and add marshmallows. Stir marshmallows until completely melted.
2. Remove mixture from heat and add cereal. Stir to coat cereal evenly in melted marshmallows. Spread rice cereal mixture onto lightly greased pan (very light spray, just enough to make it easier for you to manipulate the mixture). Consider using a rolling pin if you feel the need to yell not-so-nice words at this point.
3. For roll: place twizzlers or other flexible candy at the edge of the rice cereal mixture. Wrap and roll, to a sushi roll shape.
4. Wet knife with warm/hot water and slice the log into pieces. Then wrap each roll with a piece of fruit roll up, resembling seaweed wrap…or pink soy paper
5. For Nigiri Sushi (fish on top): use your hands to roll a small section of the rice cereal mixture into an oval shape (like the nigiri sushi rice bed). Please a Swedish fish on top and wrap with a piece of fruit roll up.
6. All done! Give to a friend to enjoy!

That’s my kind of sushi!! So fun for a fish-themed party… or a regular party! ; ) Love it.
Definitely a party item! They tasted really yummy too
My pregnant sister-in-law has been craving sushi. I might make this to cheer her up. Thanks.
Awwww that would be sweet! Swedish fish were my favorite
AHdorable! My kids love sushi but their friends don’t. This is a fun alternative! I’d like to Pin It to my Pinterest food board. Is that ok with you?
Absolutely, Pin away! Thanks for stopping by
Thanks!
This would be a perfect idea for a care package to my soldier!! How long do these hold?
I read on livestrong.com that they are best eaten within 2 days because the butter can go bad and the marshmallows dry out. Bummer! I would love to think of other ideas and send stuff your way to include in his care package. Even non food items, send me some ideas of his likes ..it is minuscule compared to what he is doing for our country. -D
Thank you and I appreciate your help! Oh noooo
that’s sad! I’ve sent him some cookies while he’s been there but I guess these are different :/ Okay, new strategy. We’ve been together close to three years and he truly is the love of my life. He’s in the Army and has been in for a few years.
Hmmm there are so many different things to tell you about him! But some of the basics-he loooves sushi (obviously), any kind of seafood, Mexican food, pastas, cookies, chips, fruit. . .pretty much any food. He likes to do puzzles like Sudoku, loves to play guessing games, read books, work out, play video games, play any kinds of games really. He’s one of the sweetest, strongest guys you will ever meet but he’s also such a total joker. He doesn’t let things get him down and always tries to find the good in any situation, even when it seems bleak. He’s a dork and a half but doesn’t care about what other people think. I’m more optimistic where he’s more realistic which serves as a good balance with our relationship. I could go on and on, but I figure I should probably let you go!
I’m just now seeing this comment, hubby must have cleared it. Let me on to thinking about ideas!
I loved this idea and ended up making it for my fiance who is in Afghanistan. I linked to this page on my blog.

my Aunt is allergic to fish.(So cant have sushi) This would be so much fun to give her
Could we use pre-made rice crispies to make these? Love the Swedisk FIsh ones for my upcoming Nautical baby shower.
This is cool!! For a party that serves sushi, the ‘kids table’ could get these to feel like they fit in, if they are picky eaters…
Thanks for stopping by. Yep, the kiddos will love candy sushi!
My best friend loves sushi, but I’m not a big fan. So I made her these for her birthday instead of having to go out to a sushi restarant with her. She loved it!!! My best gift to her so far!!
Such a sweet friend! You rock

I saw that, thanks! Cool site
I want to make these for my sons birthday celebration at
school. How many does one batch make?
It has been awhile and in true rookie form I didn’t document the final count. I think one batch of Krispy treats could yield approx 15 pieces. The Krispy part is cheap, so might as well make more than enough. Enjoy!!
Making these for a friend’s baby shower. She’s been craving sushi, so maybe these will hit the spot until her new bundle of joy arrives.
Good idea! I’d love to see how you display them at the shower.
